Please note that the maximum 401k
contribution limit above ($50,000 for 2012 and $49,000 for 2011) is the
total of both employee salary deferrals and employer contributions. In
addition, the 401k employee deferral limit is the limit that you can
contribute from your salary to all plans that you participate in. 401k
catch up contributions are only available to employees aged 50 and over.
2012 401k Contribution Limits
The 2012 401k contribution limits were
increased to $50,000 from the 2011 maximum of $49,000. The 2012 401k contribution limits were subject to a cost of living adjustment
(COLA),
the
IRS decided to increase the maximum contribution limits for 2012 by
$1000 or 2.04%.
